FRANCES BLACK is in concert at Rochestown Park Hotel on Saturday night, with very special guest Gerald O’Flynn.
When Frances sings to an audience, it’s as if she is entering into an intimate conspiracy with her listeners.
Each song she selects carries particular personal emotional resonance for her.
24 Hours, her contribution to the current best-selling compilation A Woman’s Hear a Decade On, was co-written by Frances and established singer/songwriter Don Mescall.
Frances has previously recorded a number of Mescall compositions and two more of them will feature on her forthcoming album, which she is currently completing with her producer Declan Sinnott.
It will also include a particularly heartfelt song which she wrote with Mescall.
The song is about Rathlin Island from whence her late father came and where Frances and her family still spend holiday time.
Her tour band features Conor Brady (guitar), Pat Fitzpatrick (piano) and Eoghan Scott (bass). Scott’s song You Scare Me will also be on the new album scheduled for September release.
Special guest Gerald O’Flynn’s Everyman Palace Christmas 2002 concert was an extremely memorable night.
The popular Cork singer/songwriter’s most recent album Where Do We Go From Here? Includes many fine tracks, such as Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind, Hush Little Baby which featured in the Irish Top Ten for eight weeks, When Autumn Leaves Fall, and the popular The Girl With The Blossom In Her Hair.
Hush Little Baby was produced by Declan Sinnott with backing vocals by Lyn Kavanagh, a familiar name to Jimmy MacCarthy fans.
